I Nearly Died
May 18, 2021NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE
There is a reason why I travel alone. Generally, I find it extremely difficult to find someone who vibes the same way I do but when my sister offered me a little getaway, I didn’t hesitate because I craved to spend some quality time with her. And so we drove to this little seaside place- Numana. The hike didn’t last longer than 30 min before we went our respective ways as we both had different ideas of the trekking we wanted to do for the day. She took it easy on herself, whereas I found the craziest, motherfucking trail I had been on so far. It had landslides, ropes, snakes, dead ends…but that wasn’t the worst (best?) part of it. At some point, I dropped my phone and a power bank on a side of the trail and went off to rescue it, stupidly risking my own damned life to get it… The rock was pretty much bare and so when I slid off, there was nothing for me to hold on to…It was also super steep so I must have gone down about 10 meters before I eventually stopped… Scratched, bruised, and stunned, I sat there. But I began to climb back up, I dropped my iconic hat. And so there was only one thing I could do- I slid off, even more, trying to get it… Lightheaded and seriously injured, I was now wondering if I was going to be able to come out of this alive… 30 minutes of tricky climbing later, I found myself on the other side. Even though I was in pain, I didn’t quit on the trail and still got to the cave, I initially planned to visit. And I did find both my power bank and the hat! :)
This is right after the fall.
And this is the day after.
SAN MARINO
On the way back home we decided to take a break in San Marino. Even though I have been there before, this little city/country is so lovely that it is always great to return to. Especially when there aren’t many tourists around. The weather was absolutely perfect, and we got to enjoy the blue skies and sun the whole time we were there. The day was topped with dinner, and we got absolutely spoiled by the waiter. I’ve eaten so much that by the time the main was on the table, I could not force another bite.
PIEVE DI LEDRO (LAGO DI GARDA)
Despite our initial fall-out, my sister and I decided to give traveling together with another go. This time we tried something called Via Ferrata. I had no idea what I was signing myself for but I was down for it. The lanyard and the helmet made the escapade look a bit intimidating but at the end of the day, all the safety measures weren’t that necessary as there were only a few parts where I felt uneasy. But better safe than sorry, I’ve learned that after the last accident…
Here are the shots of the landscape.
And a few action shots.
G.O.A.T
Of course, the highlight of every day is hanging out with the goat- Betina. If for some reason you were spared a pic of the two besties- we’re here to bring a smile on your face.
