I Don’t Know What To Do…

COMPLETELY NAKED!

We all tend to accumulate stuff, but when on the road it is more important than ever to keep your luggage as light as possible. This week I was faced with a decision to get rid of something that I was carrying and the choice fell between the remainders of make-up and a newly acquired dog’s bone. For the past six months, I have felt (and looked) like a bum so getting rid of the last piece of bottled confidence was a big deal and a part of the process of fully accepting myself ( I still kept a dried-up mascara and yes, the dog’s bone will eventually go as well!)

I do miss dollying-up, but I have also realized that when I strip down all the  ‘extras’, I am still left with plenty to offer to people.

EUROPEAN BEVERLY HILLS?

This week I conquered the South coast of Spain. The little towns here get fancy as fuck. It is an incredibly popular touristic spot with rich houses sprinkled around the area. I enjoyed being next to the water but I also biked on the highways to get from place to place and wasn’t able to experience as much nature as I am normally used to.

As always though, there were a few spectacular places! Take a look.

HE CHANGED EVERYTHING!

It was high time to give my bike some love so I took it to a bike shop.  Friendly people at @RECYCLO in Malaga were psyched to see Kona Sutra 2018 at their doorstep and helped out to make sure the bike was in top-notch condition. When asked about my plans for the trip I recited the formula I have been repeating from day one- along the coast, up to Barcelona. The guys looked at me with doubt in their eyes:

‘The sea is beautiful but after a while, it is all the same thing, plus the connection between the cities isn’t great for cycling- you should go up the mountains.’

There, everything that I was afraid to admit to myself in one sentence.

I can keep telling people that my adventure is completely free but when it comes to changing my formulaic route, I kick and scream when I need to readjust. But here I am - reworking the whole route, and conquering the hills because after all, I am here to transform into a butterfly, right?

HOSTS THIS WEEK

Meeting your host is like getting a Kinder Surprise- it’s all milk chocolate because after all, you get to shower and sleep in a bed! - but you just never know who you gonna get. Places that I stay at vary from shed-like houses with no toilets  (or hot water for that matter) to fancy apartment buildings in the busy city center, but it is the people that really matter to me. Because I am in the process of writing a book, I take notes about my hosts’ mannerisms, places they live, and things they talk about. I get so inspired by their stories and look for the small details that I can put in the book. It is the deepest well of inspiration for my characters!

PHOTOSHOOT TIME

Every so often I get a gig during the trip. It is always a great way to make some extra cash, and of course, fully immerse into the act of creating.
