Tears Dry On Their Own
June 18, 2021TEARS DRY ON THEIR OWN
Over the past month, I bonded with my sister and was really surprised to see how sad I was to get back on the bike. The flat area of Ferrara quickly turned into hilly Bologna, and I was challenged both physically and mentally. I thought a lot about how far away from home I was and got quite discouraged to continue. It seemed like the enthusiams that I had for travelling evaporated and cycling became a chore. But that was to change …
WILD CAMPING
Up until now, I avoided camping and preferred to stay with people during my travels. However, as the weather improved and I got rid of my fear of sleeping in the wild, camping became my FAVOURITE thing. I began to love the sense of freedom and the connection to nature that I get from it. This past week I had so many glorious moments where my whole Soul was filled up to the brim with joy and Love! I was able to regain the lost sense of excitement for the trip and suddenly remembered what this adventure meant.
One of the nights I felt so confident that I didn’t bother to put up a tent and just slept under the stars. In the morning I woke up with a big lipped surprise …! Scroll to the last picture to see Angelina Oli :P
IS THIS DANGEROUS?
My cycling hours have changed dramatically since I begun last week. I no longer sleep in and try to be on the bike as soon as I can get my stuff all packed up and ready. I avoid cycling after 1pm and wait until 6pm to get back on the bike, but the truth of a matter is that being on the bike gets intense around 11am already. But it is not cycling that I find the most challenging. Sitting in the shadow, where I do absolutey nothing but still sweat profusely is the most uncomfortable part. As of right now the temperature isn’t something that will discourage me from continuing, but it is definitely something that can very easily turn into a risk to my health.
TRIP PROGRESS SO FAR
I made it to beautiful Rome! I love big milestones like this because they allow me to celebrate how far I’ve gone! This city has something magical in the air (may be the smell of pizza that lingers around every corner) and I can’t quite compare it to anything else. Come and see for yourself whenever you have a chance. Next stop, Naples!
